Resolution to expand fair trade initiatives.

Globalisation of the world economy has brought economic benefits. At the same time, however, problems such as poverty, widening economic disparities and environmental destruction have become more serious. Fairtrade aims to improve the lives and independence of producers and workers by continuously purchasing raw materials and products from developing countries and other countries at fair prices, thereby connecting them with producers and helping them to achieve their goals of eradicating poverty and hunger, sustainable production and consumption, and environmental protection. Another aspect of Fairtrade is that it provides an opportunity to think together with citizens about various international social issues and to promote exchanges through Fairtrade promotion activities.

As a city with many historical sites, cultural heritage and visitors from all over the world, Kamakura has a role to play in expanding fair trade initiatives as a community with fair communication and a city full of ethical principles. The city of Kamakura has the role of expanding fair trade initiatives as a community with fair communication and a city full of ethical principles. Therefore, the City Council of Kamakura declares that it will expand fair trade initiatives from Kamakura.
