Privacy policy
Recognising the importance of your personal information, Kamakura Ethical Lab has established a privacy policy to ensure its proper collection, use and protection, as well as safe management.
(1) Definition of personal information
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, personal information is information relating to a living individual that falls into one of the following categories
(i) Name, date of birth or other description, etc. {any matter described or recorded in a document, drawing or electromagnetic record (a record made by electronic, magnetic or other means unrecognisable to human perception), or expressed by voice, motion or other method} contained in such information (excluding personal identification codes). The personal information collected shall not be used for purposes other than those for which it was collected without the prior consent of the person concerned, except in the cases stipulated in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003, hereinafter referred to as the ‘Personal Information Protection Act’), and efforts shall be made to delete such personal information without delay after the purpose of its use has been achieved.
(4) Purpose of use of personal information
Kamakura Ethical Lab may request personal information from you for the following purposes of use. When personal information is collected and used for purposes other than those listed below, it will be collected after informing you of the purpose of use in accordance with the preceding paragraph.
To provide services for registered members.
To conduct surveys and analysis through questionnaires, etc. for the purpose of improving existing services, developing new services and maximising customer satisfaction.
To report to those who have cooperated in surveys, events, etc.
To provide information by direct mail, e-mail, etc.
To improve and enhance the services of the Kamakura Ethical Lab website and various online services (hereinafter referred to as the ‘official website’) and to develop new services.
To improve Kamakura Ethical Lab's services by analyzing your interests and preferences through information obtained by Kamakura Ethical Lab and its partner companies, etc., and to contact, inform, and guide you about products and events that better meet your needs.
To carry out work related to the purposes 1-6 above.
On the official website, etc., users can choose whether or not to provide personal information to Kamakura Ethical Lab at their own discretion. However, if you do not provide personal information to Kamakura Ethical Lab, you may not be able to use the services on the official website, etc.
(5) Provision of personal information to third parties
Personal information will not be provided to third parties, except when consent has been obtained from the person concerned, when required by the Personal Information Protection Act or other laws and regulations, or in any of the following cases.
Where provision of personal data to a third party is necessary for the protection of a person's life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person.
Where the provision of personal data is particularly necessary for the improvement of public health or the promotion of the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person concerned.
When cooperating with a state body, a local authority or an individual or entity entrusted by one in executing the affairs prescribed by law, and where obtaining the consent of the person concerned is likely to impede the execution of the affairs concerned.
When confirming the legitimacy of the user's bank account or credit card with financial institutions, credit card companies, etc. in the course of payment procedures for credit cards, etc. for the use of paid services.
Personal information will not be provided to overseas third parties, except when the user has given their consent or when permitted by the Personal Information Protection Law.
When you purchase or use Kamakura Ethical Lab products, respond to questionnaires, enter campaigns or use other Kamakura Ethical Lab services, Kamakura Ethical Lab and Kamakura Ethical Labs may provide personal information held by Kamakura Ethical Labs to partner companies of Kamakura Ethical Labs to the extent necessary for the partner companies of Kamakura Ethical Labs to provide better services. (6) Provision of personal information and recording at the time of receipt, etc.
When personal information is provided to or received from a third party (excluding national organisations, local governments, independent administrative institutions and local independent administrative institutions; hereinafter the same shall apply in this section), a record of the necessary matters shall be made in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law and stored for the period stipulated by the Personal Information Protection Commission Regulations. (8) Outsourcing to third parties
If the processing of personal information is outsourced to a third party, a suitable outsourcing company will be selected, a contract for the protection of personal information will be concluded with the outsourcing company and the necessary and appropriate supervision of the outsourcing company will be carried out.
(9) Disclosure, correction and suspension of use of personal information
If a person requests the disclosure of personal information (including disclosure of records of provision of personal data to third parties), correction, suspension of use, erasure or suspension of provision to third parties, we will respond appropriately and promptly in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law. (10) Changes to privacy policy
Kamakura Ethical Lab may change its privacy policy without prior notice in response to changes in social conditions, technological advances, amendments to the Personal Data Protection Law, etc.
The above policy does not apply to cases where the purpose is for the press, etc.
