About Us
The Kamakura Ethical Lab was established with the aim of gaining and sustaining the certification of Kamakura as a Fair Trade Town.
We position Kamakura, which is blessed with nature such as the sea, mountains and rivers, as ‘a place (laboratory) for experimentation where people can live a life that boasts a rich history and culture and values human connections’, with a diverse group of people with connections to Kamakura, and we are seeking to overcome the challenges of the humanocene while facing social issues such as mass production, mass consumption and mass waste. We aim to create an ethical Kamakura where the current and next generations can live ethically and with hope, by exploring a sympathetic and symbiotic society that overcomes the challenges of the Anthropocene.
